Yes. The download is free and every card is unlocked. VIP donations are optional and add cosmetics.
YGO Omega runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. Get the file for your system on the download page.
Yes, for online play. The game needs Discord running, and you authorize it the first time you press Online.
Start with the Install Guide. If you still need help, ask in the Omega-help channel on Discord.
Read the Beginner's Guide. It picks up after the install and walks you through your first deck.
No. Animations run apart from the duel, so the game never stops to play one, and they appear on the monster zone without covering the field. Your duel speed depends on your ping to the server.
You can turn animations and holograms off in the settings, and 2D view gives you a flat layout.
You will still see loading screens, because Omega runs on Unity. MTG Arena and Duel Links have them for the same reason: Unity clears objects from memory and loads the next scene. For a client with no 3D at all, try YGOPro or Dueling Book.
Yes. You can change the background, sounds, card art, sleeves, holograms, playmats, field zones and dialogue boxes. Other players share themes as .otm files. Place one in the YGO Omega_Data/Files/Themes folder.
Sometimes. You can cancel a Normal Summon, Special Summon, Set or activation from hand before you pick a zone, as long as it has no cost and starts no chain. You can also cancel material selection for Extra Deck and Tribute Summons.
Past that point, the move stands. Clicking Summon counts as saying "I summon" at a table, and the Tournament Policy doesn't let you retract a move once you commit to it.
You get 180 seconds of idle time plus 3 seconds per move, up to 540 seconds. That adds up to 720 seconds, or 12 minutes, which is 4 minutes more than Master Duel.
A second timer targets stalling: if you sit idle too long, the hourglass turns red and your time drains at twice the rate. The team tested timer systems for 8 years before settling here, because more time brings slow play and less time cuts off combos. The forum post on timer systems in game design has the details.
YGO Omega supports both TCG and OCG confirmed rulings. No public database of TCG rulings exists, and the usual answer on how a card works in the TCG is to ask your head judge. Regions can disagree on the same text.
Book of Moon against VW shows the problem. KDE-EU and the OCG follow this database ruling, while KDE-US ruled differently at Remote Duel events. A game needs one consistent answer, so Omega uses the database ruling for both formats. Konami's own simulators and the World Championship also use OCG rulings. The forum post on TCG vs OCG rulings covers the history.
Omega scripts a TCG card separately when its printed effect differs from the OCG. Gandora-X, for example, says "original ATK" in the TCG and "current ATK" in the OCG. Games on the TCG banlist use the TCG script.
New cards reach the game within 6 hours and work in automatic duels 3 hours to 1 week later. The card database syncs with Yugipedia every 6 hours, including names, card text, TCG and OCG status and IDs. A person then scripts each card, and that time depends on the scripter.
A card without a script shows a scriptless icon, and you can use it in manual mode. The card pool filter lists new cards, and Discord announces updates.
Yes. YGO Omega runs the Fluorohydride core engine and its open-source scripts, with changes to damage calculation and TCG rulings. Omega is not a fork of YGOPro or a rewrite of YGOPro2.
The team wrote its own .NET server, which uses 4 MB or less per duel against 30 MB per duel on YGOPro. The core has an MIT license, so the client and server can stay closed source.
YGO Omega shuffles with Fisher-Yates, the standard algorithm for digital card games. It goes through the deck one position at a time and swaps each card with a random card from those not placed yet, so every deck order has the same odds. Riffle and pile shuffles at a table can't match that.
The random numbers come from PCG32, a newer generator than the Mersenne Twister YGOPro uses.
Not yet. The core runs on the server, so every duel needs a connection. Online test hands and online AI do the same job, with 2 to 3 seconds of delay when a new duel starts.
Donations decide when offline support arrives. It would bring LAN, offline AI, faster test hands and Puzzle Mode.
Yes. YGO Omega has both automatic and manual duels, and you can do anything in manual that Dueling Book allows. Each card has one Move button: click it, then click the destination. Type /help to see the chat commands. The Attack icon also lets you attack yourself or target cards.
Manual has no ranking, moderation or time limit, so you and your opponent settle your own rulings in chat or Discord voice. Judges can spectate and read the duel log to solve disputes.
For custom cards and banlists, add the art, cdb and lflist files. Send your cdb and art to your opponent to sync, as long as the IDs don't clash. You don't need scripts.
lflist.conf file in the YGO Omega_Data/Files/Banlists folder. On EDOPro, use the lflists folder. The editor now shows only the cards in your collection.
Tournaments run as automatic Swiss with no top cut, and your deck locks when the tournament starts. To join, go to the Arena tab, press the Trophy icon and press Join queue. The calendar lists upcoming tournaments.
Omega uses end of match procedures and follows the official Tournament Policy. Read Road to World Champion to see how tournaments work in real life, then the official tournament rules for Omega.
The forum post on YGO Omega's ranking algorithm explains it.
Send a donation through PayPal and put your Discord username in the message so the team can enable your perks. Donations pay for servers, Unity assets and the team's work. There's no minimum, but 5 USD or more gets you VIP for life:
The battle pass costs 8 USD for a month. It doubles your DP while active and gives you 1 of each elemental rarity. It isn't a subscription: you choose which months to buy.
The forum post on copyright in game development covers it, with references to official .gov sources.
